Venture Patrol

The Venture Patrol is a special group of scouts. The two requirements to be in the Venture Patrol are to be in eight grade or above, and to be First Class or above.  The Venture Patrol goes on special outings each year that are more adventurous than your regular campout. Here are some of the outings the Venture Patrol goes on each year:

  • Okpik – a high adventure trip to Raymond, Maine where scouts will participate in back country skiing, snowshoeing and shelter (igloo) building that we will sleep in overnight.
  • Friday night cabin-campout – the Friday before the whole troop cabin campout. Venture Patrol just hangs out.
  • Lake Compounce Haunted House – The venture patrol walks through the long, dark, and terrifying haunted graveyard at local Lake Compounce
  • Boston Trip – While in Boston, the Venture Patrol tours Fenway, visits the New England Aquarium, and visits the Minute Man National Park. Also, they tour Boston, visiting Back Bay, Boston Common, North End, Copley Square, and Cambridge.
  • New York City Trip – Venture Patrol stays at a Boy Scout camp near the city or in a youth hostel in the city and visits different parts of the city and gets a flavor of some of what it has to offer. It is an urban camping trip and scouts can practice urban orienteering. On the next trip there will be a NYC scavenger hunt.
  • Catamount Adventure Park - Venture Patrol visits Catamount Adventure Park ... the largest "aerial forest adventure park" in North America ... with 120 tree-top adventures (cables, platforms, bridges, zip lines).  They will participate in eight different courses.
  • Surf Trip- Venture Patrol will have the time of their life chillin in Ogunquit, Maine at a Boy Scout camp and surfin with LDS (liquid dreams surfing) staff.
